This children's story focuses on a young boy called Jaara, whose father, Wawi makes a toy called a 'marngrook' for his son and the other children. The toy is made from the skin of a ring tailed possum, sewn with a tendon from a kangaroo tail and stuffed with emu feathers and moulded into the shape of an emu egg. Jaara and the other children play with the marngrook every day and spend hours practising their kicks. (Source Magabala Books website www.magabala.com, and Koori Mail 523:54)
