Each Australian edition of Venture Science Fiction was largely identical to the British version but dated two months later.
The magazine's origins date back to 1957 when an American version was first published. The initial publishing run was 10 issues (1957-58), with a further six revived between 1969 and 1970. In both instances the magazine was published as a companion to the Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction (F&SF). The British version of Venture began in September 1963 under the editorship of Ronald R. Wickers. In all 28 issues were published up until 1965, with the material largely comprising reprinted material from both F&SF and the US edition of Venture.
