Notes

  • Following the attempted assassination of Prince Alfred in Sydney in 1868, many were convinced that the attack was the work of Fenians, despite the fact that all the evidence indicated O'Farrell had acted alone. This poem reflects the mood of the conspiracy theorists of the day.

Affiliation Notes

  • This work has been affiliated with the Irishness in Australian Literature dataset because it contains Irish characters, settings, tropes or themes.
