y separately published work icon Wild and Woolley : A Publishing Memoir Michael Wilding , Artarmon : Giramondo Publishing , 2011 Z1819865 2011 single work autobiography 'Wild & Woolley: A Publishing Memoir is Wilding's rollicking account of the literary scene in Sydney in the heady bohemian years of the 1970s and 80s, charting the growth, the experiments, and finally Wilding's departure from this innovative small press, against a background of social upheaval and cultural change in Australia. It is peppered with irreverent anecdotes and details - publication of the best-selling manual All About Grass, the purchase of decommissioned panel vans for "urgent book deliveries", accounts of long and boozy book launches - and with vivid portraits of some of the most important literary figures of the time.' y separately published work icon Anguli Ma : A Gothic Tale Chi Vu , Artarmon : Giramondo Publishing , 2012 Z1856670 2012 single work novella 'Anguli Ma is the central figure in a traditional Buddhist folktale, a deranged killer who wears his victims’ fingers in a garland around his neck. Chi Vu presents him as a menacing abattoir worker who carries bloody chunks of meat home to his lodgings in plastic bags, in this suburban Gothic tale set in 1980s Melbourne, when the flight of Vietnamese refugees to Australia was at its height.' y separately published work icon Street to Street Brian Castro , Artarmon : Giramondo Publishing , 2012 Z1901159 2012 single work novella Brian Castro takes up the novella, the form favoured by David Malouf and Helen Garner, in his new work of fiction, based on the life of the early twentieth-century Sydney poet Christopher Brennan. Brennan wrote some of the most powerful and ambitious poems in Australian poetry; he was a formidable literary figure who corresponded with Mallarmé and wrote on French poetry. He died an impoverished alcoholic. Castro's portrait of Brennan, seen through the eyes of his would-be biographer Brendan Costa, explores the fear of failure which haunts those who live by the imagination the fear of not achieving their own high ideals, and of disappointing their families and those who depend them. The story is told with the wit and energy that is the hallmark of Castro's writing. [Source: Trove] Artarmon : Giramondo Publishing , 2012
y separately published work icon Ninety9 Vanessa Berry , Artarmon : Giramondo Publishing , 2013 6318913 2013 single work autobiography

'In the last decade of the twentieth century, when music was recorded on cassettes and movies on VHS, Vanessa Berry was responding to the loneliness of life in the suburbs of Sydney by constructing imaginary worlds and identities from late-night music video programs, band T-shirts, mix-tapes and and the ‘dark energy’ of goth. Written and illustrated by one of Australia’s foremost zine-makers, Ninety 9 is a memoir about adolescence, its cherished objects, its magical places and, above all, its friendships –a personal guide to the end of the millennium for those who were too young to be there, and an intimate history, full of moments of recognition, for those who were.' 'The Tribe is a collection of three novellas portraying significant aspects in the life of an extended Muslim Lebanese-Australian family with its roots in the suburb of Lakemba in Western Sydney. The first novella describes the family house, and the three generations who live, often in some discord, in its rooms; the second explores the marriage of the boy’s uncle, and the threatened appearance of an estranged branch of the family at the ceremony. The third rounds off the circle, describing the death of the family matriarch, the boy’s grandmother. Together they offer an intimate insight into a community negotiating the conflict between tradition and modernity, and the complex tribal affiliations of the extended family.' (Publisher's blurb)
