The Sydney Monitor reports on the court case Finch v Kentish, 24 February 1835. Finch was attempting to recover the sum of two hundred and ninety-four pounds which he claimed to have lent Kentish for the running of the Sydney Times. It appeared that, for a time, the two men had run the Times 'on friendly terms' but had later 'lost confidence in each other'. The judge found in favour of Kentish, deciding that the money in question was connected to a partnership (not a loan) and there was no evidence that Finch had withdrawn from the partnership.
