AbstractHistoryArchive Description

Described in advertising as a 'musical barrage,' and by New Zealand's The Evening Post as an 'up-to-date revue in two acts and twenty scenes' The Diggers Dream of Paris and London was first staged at Melbourne's Playhouse Theatre and subsequently became the Smart Set Diggers feature presentation during its Australasian tour of 1920. The production begins with a progue called 'The Dream' (played out by four of the diggers). The first act is then set in the Cafe de La Paix, Paris, with the second act played out somewhere in Persia.

It is believed that the various elements of the revue, song, dance and comedy were changed around over time, and perhaps even within a partiuclar season.
