Damien Murphy outlines the arguments made by David Brooks in The Sons of Clovis: Ern Malley, Adore Floupette and a Secret History of Australian Poetry. Brooks contends that, in writing the Ern Malley poems with Harold Stewart, James McAuley was aware of the fictitious French poet Adore Floupette and drew inspiration from this source.
