Notes:
According to Moran, Roger McDonald was given the first brief of the project to write a novel based on the singer's life then to base a series of telefilms on it. This approach didn't succeed and the series was developed instead. Source:Moran's Guide to Australian TV Series
Moran also notes that although Crawfords had produced two radio shows based on the life of Melba they were not the ones to bring her story to television.
