Barnett Levey refutes the claim that he will not employ as actors those originally who came to New South Wales as convicts. He notes that he minds his own business and suggests others do likewise.
A writer for the Sydney Monitor comments favourably on Barnett Levey's repudiation of claims that he will not employ emancipists in his theatre. The columnist writes: 'This letter, in our humble opinion, completely vindicates Mr. Levey from the
charge brought against him by malicious report, and which we were desirous he should have an opportunity of contradicting.'
The columnist goes on to offer advice to Levey re the comparative pay rates of emigrant and emancipist actors.
