Japan's first successful prozine (professional zine), SF Magazine is a Japanese science fiction magazine which began publication in February 1960 (the issue actually appeared in bookshops at the end of 1959). Also known as Hayakawa's SF Magazine, it was first edited by Masami Fukushima. he was succeeded in 1969 Masaru Mori.
The first stories to be published were translations of tales by English language authors. The magazine's popularity eventually led, however, to an increasing number of Japanese readers contributing their own original fiction.
