Drama of Van Diemen's Land, single work criticism
The editor of the Colonial Times is savage in his dismissal of Moncrieff's melodrama. The editor asserts that Moncrieff displays 'odd mistakes and gross ignorance of ... the affairs of this Colony' and the playwright's statement that he 'spared neither research nor labour' in preparing his script is misleading and detrimental to the residents of Van Diemen's Land.
