L.), a brief section in which the writer recounts: 'In the course of my travels it has been my fortune to meet many famous authors from Bernard Shaw to Hector Bolitho, but none of them compare with the omnipresent T. H. Cochran [q.v.]. Wherever the great gather, there also is T. H. C....among the magnificent...writing his notes for The Home'. Includes a brief reference to the British author Cynthia Stockley (b. 1862? London, England; d. 15 January 1936 London, England) who 'paid a quiet visit to Australia some years ago'. T. H. Cochran notes that the author 'who used to shock us mildly years ago with her romantic South African novels, such as Poppy,' has responded to a recent comment 'that the reputation of Rhodesia had been besmirched by women novelists. Her trenchant reply is typically Cynthian.
