Despite the production note from Live Guide, the Bell Shakespeare 2011 production schedule specifically identifies this as 'Michael Gow’s startling adaptation of Christopher Marlowe’s play'. This is supported by the spelling of the name as 'Mephistophilis', as in the 1616 edition of Marlowe, rather than the more common 'Mephistopheles' (https://www.bellshakespeare.com.au/whats-on/past-productions/faustus/).
