AbstractHistoryArchive Description

Review of two performances given by Smythesdale amateurs to raise funds for the lining of the local Mechanics' Institute. Pieces chosen were the drama 'The Wreck Ashore' and the farce 'More Blunders than One'. Both were performed admirably and supported the saying that, in the case of farce or comedy, well-trained amateurs surpass professional actors.
