  • Bachelder's 'Illuminated Paradise Lost' was again well patronised last night. The harmony of the colours and the 'perspective conception' of the artist are outstanding. The exhibition will be repeated every night this week.
  • Mr Montgomery will give readings in Mr Lester's hotel on Monday and Tuesday next week. His readings have been acclaimed in London and Melbourne.

Theatre Royal : Louis XI, single work review
— Review of Louis XI Dion Boucicault , 1853 single work drama ;

Review of Louis XI in which, according to the reviewer, several of the finest British actors have 'achieved especial laurels'. The review gives a detailed account of the performance and considers Mr Montgomery produces his most powerful acting when he portrays Louis suffering the torments of his conscience.
