  • This evening Mr George Coppin will appear at the Theatre Royal as Paul Pry. Madame Celeste has recovered from her indisposition and will appear on Friday night when she will take a benefit. Her engagement ends the following night.
  • Mr C. Boyd has completed a catalogue of the books held by the Mechanics' Institute. The ornamental cover, reminiscent of the ladies' magazine 'London Society', makes the volume presentable. A novelty is the interleaving of advertisements with the contents of the catalogue. The writer observes that this, like the fashion for chignons, may be 'charming from its incongruity'.
