Notes

  • A satirical poem on New South Wales Government plans to acquire land for a new cemetery. In the previous week, an official party, led by the Colonial Secretary, the Secretary for Lands, the Surveyor General, and also W.C. Wentworth, had visited proposed sites at Homebush and at Parramatta. Wentworth (the 'ancient sojer') had evidently advocated that the government purchase land which he owned at Homebush for the purpose.
