'A rare 209-year-old German book containing the first printed version of a letter from Bennelong has been acquired by the Australian Institute of Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS). The letter is contained in the 1801 German publication Monatliche Correspondenz zur Beforderung der Erd-und Himmelskunde edited by Franz Xaver Freiherr von Zach. Professor Jon Altman, a long-serving Director for the Centre for Aboriginal Economic Policy Research (CAEPR) at the Australian National University, has donated his collection of papers to the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS).
