AbstractHistoryArchive Description

'Annie is crusty, cranky, eccentric, very funny and homeless. She turns up before a set of large gates. She believes her ex-husband Johnny and their daughter Louise live in the mansion protected by the gates. She is on a mission and her determination to get satisfaction takes us on a journey into her mind and memory. Is she mentally ill or does she just say what she feels? Is she deluded or is her perception far closer to the truth than the others would like to admit? Annie won't go quietly into the sunset and the occupants behind the gate will have to deal with her one way or the other.

'"Woman" throws into relief the life of one particular woman as a means to illuminate the lives that women, through nature and society are forced to live. How much real choice does a woman have in the world? Are women, destined to always be second-class citizens or, as Yoko Ono once said, "the nigger of the world"? This is a tough minded, challenging drama with a central character as complex as King Lear!'
