Notes

  • Appeared in Bell's Life in Sydney along with an item from Freeman's Journal on the memorial erected at Morton's grave at Ashfield Cemetery, in Sydney.
  • Pickering and Morton apparently became close friends during their time at Bell's Life in Sydney. In 1872, Pickering's son, Rowland Ferrers Pickering (q.v.), married Morton's daughter Katherine.
