This poem, published in consecutive weeks by the New South Wales Examiner, was written following the introduction of the New Corporations Bill. The poem is preceded (in both sources) by N. I. B.'s letter to the editor in which [he] satirically petitions the 'Mayor, Aldermen, and Councillors, for the situation of Poet to the Corporation'.
