This play was an adaptation of Harriet Beecher Stowe's novel Uncle Tom's Cabin. It was apparently written by Frank Fowler for the visiting American child prodogy Anna Maria Quinn (1848-1920), who played the title role. The script was never published and appears not to have survived. Some information about the play can be gained via the advertisements and reviews which appeared in the Sydney press at the time it was first staged.
The cast included Anna Maria Quinn (Eva), James H. Vinson (Uncle Tom), W.H. Stephens (Penetrate Partyside), Mr. Russell (St. Clair), J.C. Lambert (Drover John), H.T. Craven (George Harris), Mrs. H.T. Craven (Topsy), Mrs. J.C. Lambert (Aunty Vermont). A troupe of 'Ethiopian Minstrels' performed dances and serenades. Overture and incidental music composed and arranged by John Winterbottom.

Premiered at the Our Lyceum theatre, York Street, Sydney, on Monday, 25 August, 1856, and ran through to Wednesday, 3 September, 1856. Excerpts from the play featured in a benefit concert given at the Our Lyceum for actor J.H. Vinson, on Saturday, 13 September, 1856.
