Notes

  • Sir Charles Napier (1782-1853) was a British army officer and general. During the Napoleonic Wars he gained attention for his heroism, and later in life, as Commander-in-Chief of British forces in India, he became famous for his conquest of Sindh province (in present day Pakistan), in 1842.
