A sequence of poems detailing the adventures of Rose de Freycinet (1794-1832), who stowed away on the French Navy ship, Uranie, captained by her husband. Louis-Claude de Freycinet, had been commissioned by the French Government to command a round-the-world scientific expedition. The National Library of Australia records that Uranie sailed from France in 1817 and visited Australia (surveying the Western Australian coast from Geographe Bay to Shark Bay), New Guinea, the Mariana Islands and Hawaii, before being wrecked off the Falkland Islands on 13 February 1820.
