Notes

  • Author's note: This is an edited extract from a work-in-progress called Rules of Engagement. Set in 1970s Sydney during the building violence of the anti-apartheid protests, a young boy, Mattie, looks on as his older brother, Gerry, struggles with family and conscience. The South African rugby tour will soon ignite the country but in this extract, we meet the mysterious Uncle Jimmy.
