Science Fiction Quarterly was a pulp science fiction magazine originally published in 1940 by Double Action Magazines, with Charles D. Hornig as its first editor. After Hornig edited the second issue for new owner Columbia Publications, his role was taken over by Robert A. W. Lowndes. Under his editorship the magazine continued through until 1943, at which time Columbia stopped its publication.
In 1951 Lowndes and Columbia revived the magazine, but this lasted only until 1958. Although its lifespan was relatively brief,
Science Fiction Quarterly nevertheless played a significant role in the early development of many science fiction authors.
One Australian author to have his works published in the magazine was
A. Bertram Chandler.
