Two Islander brothers want their father's lugger for themselves and decide to murder him. They leave him on the outer reef and wait for him to drown, but the old man builds himself a cairn to exist on during high tide. On the third night, the sons decide to rescue their father, but he has disappeared and they are hung for murder.
