Notes

  • Includes a lengthy editor's note about the Melbourne City coroner and his quip to a court witness that he (the coroner) could 'go and get drunk now, anywhere, without a farthing in my pocket'. The witness had protested that drunkenness could not be the cause of two black eyes as he was out of work and could not afford alcohol.
