Notes

  • Air : 'Bonnie Dundee'
  • Minor textual variation between versions.
  • Published in the Queenslander in 1894 in the 'Songs of the Bush' column, in which readers were invited to contribute the words of bush songs which they had heard. 'The Kennedy Men' was evidently sent in by 'W. E.' of Townsville, who stated : 'This song, I believe, was composed by P. Somers [sic], in the early days of Bowen, 1861.' It is this reference to 'Somers' which led historian Geoffrey Bolton and others to make the Somer/'Remos' connection.
