Notes

  • Author's note: Reverend L.D.A., who was imprisoned next to my cell for about 3 months, offered Mass for me everyday by knocking gently on the wall in lieu of saying prayers. He was afterwards moved elsewhere and I don't know whether he's still alive or already killed by the Communists. This is one of hundreds of poems I composed in mind during my 10-year solitary confinement.
  • Editor's note: Mr Vo Dai Ton is a high profile political activist who had spent 10 years in prison in Vietnam, and was released in 1991. He is currently a Sydney resident.
