In this column the publisher of the Colonial Observer, Mr Alcock, advises subscribers that the Colonial Observer will 'cease to be published, at least for a time, from and after Saturday next.'
The publisher went on to announce that a publication of a new paper, the Sydney Record, would occur 'from the same office' and asked for the support of subscribers for the new undertaking 'which will be, in the day of its publication, its appearance, and its size, virtually a continuation of the former journal.'
The circular announces the date of the first issue of the Sydney Record as Saturday, 7 October [1843].
A Prospectus 'of the general arrangements of the Sydney Record' was published in the 30 September 1843 issue of the Colonial Observer and is separately indexed.
