A description of Palmerston's various prospecting adventures including his notorious exploitation of Chinese miners, by which he accumulated substantial wealth.
'In February 1887 Palmerston was on his honeymoon in Brisbane and was interviewed by a reporter. Palmerston spoke about his Russell River gold find and gave personal observations of Aboriginal people, Pacific Island workers, and Chinese on the goldfields.
Describes how in 1884 Palmerston led a party of officials on horseback from Geraldton [now Innisfail] to Herberton on what was to become the Palmerston Highway.

Editor's note: 'Christie Palmerston, Explorer of the Rainforest' was first published in 1982 to commemorate the centenary of Palmerston's explorations within the Eacham Shire. When the second edition was published additional material about the building and upgrading of the Palmerston Highway was added. This third edition has had no further text added, however the cover design was changed and two portraits of Christie Palmerston were added to the inside back cover.
