A sympathetic exploration of Governor William Bligh's time in charge of the infant colony of New South Wales - some two years after the infamous Bounty mutiny. The series focuses on his troubled relationship with the NSW Corp, and especially Captain John Macarthur.

  • The individual manuscripts for the ABV Television series, which is based very much on the radio play, is held by the Fryer Library, University of Queensland.

  • Notes in contemporary newspapers indicates that the radio version of Stormy Petrel was first broadcast in early 1949.
