  • On the 23rd October 1834 a benefit for Master Stephen Jones was held at the Theatre Royal, Sydney. An extract from an advertisement in the Sydney Gazette reads: 'The very flattering manner in which the respective performances of this child (only six years of age) have been received by a discriminating public, has induced the proprietors to extend to his juvenile ability, the customary theatrical award of merit - a Benefit.'
