Notes

  • Dedication: My name is Joyce Bonner, a descendant of the Butchulla people from K'gari (Fraser Island). I dedicate this book to Aunty Joan Ahwang and Elder of the Ownes clan (now deceased), who played an important role in helping us get our Butchulla language back working along side us when teaching our ghundus. The production and work of this book is an inspiration based on how important it is to speak with our Elders about our language and culture before it is too late. Aunty Joan always made time to speak about the importance of our Butchulla language and to record and preserve it for future generations of our community.
