Author's note: 'Inscribed on a humble Tablet at the north end of the beach in the cove called Kakapooh, in Cloudy Bay, New Zealand, November the 1st, 1833, the day on which the remains of the deceased were interred there, by the commander and crew of the Harriet, the funeral service being read by Mr. Tomline, shipmate of the deceased: Sacred to the memory of Henry Gully. Late second officer of the Barque Harriet, who was unfortunately drowned July 23, 1833'.
