AbstractHistoryArchive Description

'For over twenty years Australians have had reason to be proud of the magnificent bequest which has enabled the National Gallery of Victoria to purchase some of the finest art treasures in the world. But though the "Felton Bequest" is well known to the art lovers of Australia, and increasingly so in England, France and America, it is surely rather pathetic that Alfred Felton, the man, is unknown and almost forgotten.'
