A new theme song, "Under The Water, Under The Sea", was written for the film by Rene Devereaux (wife of Ed Devereaux).

Release Dates:

1. Premiered in Australia on 12 December 1969 at the Palace Theatre, Sydney.
2. Released on DVD by Warner Vision (Australia) ca. 2003 as part of a five-disk set under the title Adventures of Skippy : Australia's Most Famous Kangaroo. The collection also includes episodes 1-20. The Intruders has also been released on DVD in Britain by Medium Rare Entertainment.

Location:

  • Filmed on location on the Skippy series set at Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park (Sydney), Eden (New South Wales), and Mallacoota Inlet (Victoria).

Notes:

1. Filming commenced on 11 October 1968 under the working title 'Mallacoota,' the name of the inlet where production filming began and where the story also begins.
2. The film was exhibited around Australia by Regent Films but, despite the popularity of the television series, failed to attract audiences. The premiere season in Sydney ran for only three weeks.
3. Produced by Woomera Productions, as opposed to the television series production company Fauna Productions, the movie does not feature the Skippy title or theme song. The British DVD release does have a 'Skippy The Bush Kangaroo' graphic superimposed at the start, however.
