A humorous column on the presentation of a selection of papers by ficticious Bathurst luminaries on such topics as: Physics, Geology, Literature, Antiquities and the Fine Arts, Statistics and Physiology. The Bathurst poet Laureate is reported to have read a dissertation on poetry: 'He thought that the origin of poetry, like the origin of teakettles, was involved in much obscurity.'
