Publishes commercial intelligence, local and provincial news, police office reports, news from the diggings, summary of colonial news from Sydney, original correspondence, and on a few occasions literary material including some Australian original poetry.

In Vol 2. no. 68 (Jun. 13, 1860) p. 4: 'In accordance with the principles enunciated in the prospect as issued in August 1858, the Braidwood Observer is the organ of social order and progress, and stands perfectly independent and unpledged to support any political party whatever.'
