'Tex Camfoo is about 70 years old and this is a brief record of part of his colourful life. For a long time he was reluctant to record his life story, partly, I believe, because parts of his experience evoke such strong emotions. However, as he recognised that perhaps there were not all that many years to go, he realised the importance of recording events which have considerable significance, not least as evidence about a little known aspect of this country's history'.
