    • The poem 'England and Australia' was originally published in two cantos. A third and fourth were added prior to the 1851 publication.
    • In the 1851 edition, the preface to the first canto is dated: Australia. October 4th, 1847'; the preface to the second canto is dated: New South Wales, October 14th, 1847. The third canto is dated: July 14th, 1849; the fourth canto is dated: Tarean, Raymond Terrace, New South Wales, September 17th, 1849.
