Account (three columns) of a Canadian's exile experiences at Port Arthur describing the conditions and forced hard labour there. Gemmell claims to be the first of the Canadian Rebellion exiles to have escaped from Van Diemen's Land and offers this report on individuals and the circumstances of their treatment since little has been reported in North America. -- Libraries Australia
