  • Australia's first Sunday paper, pioneered by W. H. Leighton Bailey.
  • A launch party was held on 14 November 1885 'at the new offices of the Globe and Sunday Times, King-street, when the new machinery was formally started "on its mission of progress and enlightenment" by the Mayor (Alderman Playfair), after which the party adjourned to luncheon.'
