AbstractHistoryArchive Description

Marian Marcus Clarke reveals how she tried for several years to have a film made of her father's book while living in the United States. When the book was eventually adapted for screen by an Australian company she played the part of Lady Devine, Rufus Dawes's mother.

She also speaks of her parents' marriage, particularly how Marcus Clarke obtained funding from the Australian Magazine to research convict records for his novel, thereby also funding their honeymoon.
