Notes

  • Editor's note: F. J. W. - We print four verses of your 'Day Dawn, W.A.' - which at least go to confirm the justice of Marcus Clarke's dictum ('What is the dominant note of Australian scenery? Melancholy, weird melancholy.') Also you pay a little more attention to rhyme and metre than some of the 'mute inglorious Miltons' of the goldfields. Try your hand at a sonnet on Yoweragabbie, Tuckanarra, or Cagacaroon.
