An Ill Wind, Patrick Vaux , single work short story
Australian ship engineer needing money to support ill wife and return home ignores banker's letter, to ship on a North Sea steamer where he loses right arm and leg in an accident. Survives to find the letter was news that he had already inherited his uncle's Australian estate.
