AbstractHistoryArchive Description

'Magpie Blues' is about Ursula Yovich's childhood experiences and how she perceived her life as she was growing up. Magpie is Yovich's totem and the white feathers of the bird symbolise her Serbian heritage and the black feathers represent her Aboriginal descent. She says "I called it Magpie Blues and I do have the blues in there. The blues really relates to my story." The storyline explores belonging and not belonging, following dreams and ultimately finding a unique and powerful voice. Source: www.adelaidefestivalcentre.com.au/ (Sighted 25/06/2009).
