Notes

  • Author's note: About the middle of October, 1915, Mrs. Chambers, wife of a fettler, and her child, about 2 and a half years, disappeared from the 220-mile camp on the trans-line. Mounted Constable Duggan and 'Jacky,' a Northam black, assisted by a number of workers, spent many days in fruitless search. The affair has remained a mystery to the present day.
