Notes

  • Contains the first instalment of Barbara Macdonald's humorous series, 'The Epistles of Pamela'. (pp. 8-9)
  • Includes article by F. H. Day, 'Plays for the Reading', which sets 'forth a few of the reasons' why plays should be read for enjoyment. While the discussion predominantly cites work by overseas writers such as John Galsworthy, J. M. Barrie and A. A. Milne, there is a brief reference to the noted Australian playwright C. Haddon Chambers (q.v.) and his play Passers-By (1913).
  • Includes column by Bertram Stevens (q.v.), 'Books Worth Reading', which reviews numerous fiction and non-fiction publications by overseas authors. The only reference to Australian publications are three works which contain non-literary content: The Cow Pasture Road (by William Hardy Wilson, q.v.), The Art of Conrad Martens (edited by Lionel Lindsay, q.v.) and The Art of Hans Heysen.
